Eastside Light Rail Authority

Abstract Representation of Realtime Rail Kinetics Through a Closed Photoionization Process

Eastside Light Rail Experiment v1.1

Overview

This document describes the first in a series of experiments that will be carried out by the scientists, artists, engineers, and architects contracted by the Eastside Light Rail Authority that seeks to advance the understanding of local rail impact through basic research.

Hypothesis

In order to understand the impact of rail traffic responsible for isolating participation between the urban core of the rising city and the Eastside, advanced cloud visualization techniques must be scaled up for the long distance signaling and communication of collected data so that external forces can be applied and directed for appropriate responses to the current rail environment. Given improved visibility additional funding can be secured for an active reduction at a municipal scale of disruption by unmonitored rail activity.

Instrumentation

For precise detection of rail activity, a location for data sampling has been selected with overhead line-of-sight access to rail conditions. Using an array of wireless sensors, accurate measurements can be recorded, broadcast, and processed through a data matrix filter for instant display of changes in speed, sound levels, and vibration. Machine vision techniques can infer vector data for cross-multiplication of the matrix to generate richer interference patterns resulting in visual density for faster transmission of complex data sets with the changing environment.

Executive Summary

One element holding back Eastside development is a rail line that severs a large portion of the city, east to southeast, from the urban core. Attempts were made using CITY INITIATED TAX INCREMENT REINVESTMENT ZONE - Inner City #11 to silence a large section of rail starting at Sherman Street to the north, but the project stopped short of completing the intended goal of Essex Street. Using arrays of sensors, patterns of light will be computer generated from current train activity and displayed from a building onto the tracks to draw attention to the issue.
